Hale Mahaolu Recognition Luncheon started in 1993 to honor and recognize Hale Mahaolu volunteer residents, employees, and community individuals and groups who have contributed to enriching the lives of Hale Mahaolu residents. The annual event is a small token of appreciation for the honored guests. This year’s event was held at the Maui Beach Hotel on April 18, 2019.

“Superhero” was the theme for this year’s luncheon, hosted by “Mutant Ninja Turtle”, Kathy “Tita” Collins. Most of the attendees came as the superhero they are, while others dressed as their favorite Superhero. All contestants received prizes for their participation, with the first prize going to “Batwoman” aka Carolina Rosario a Hale Mahaolu resident.

Former employees, Rhonda Lincoln and Valerie Masanda along with Roberta and Brandee Souza known as “The 4 of Us” volunteered their time and talents entertaining the guests with a wide variety of songs and music including “Hawaiian Superman”.

Guests were directed to Fermo of Sofiamae Photobooth as they arrived for fun photos with Superheroes. Each guest received a Superhero frame for their photo.

Awards were presented to 93 year old, Yaemi Yogi who is the longest serving volunteer, Danny Natividad who is the longest serving employee volunteer, and Kathy Louis who has chaired the committee for the last 24 years. Awards were framed caricatures created by the incredibly talented Todd Bernardy.

A special shout out to our dedicated and creative employee committee members Kim Phillips who also offered a beautiful prayer, Michelle Payton, Leslie Kidani, Lorri Gibo, and Keri and Brittney Kalilikane.

Thank you for everyone for a fun event! Until next year…
