All rental housing sites owned and/or managed by Hale Mahaolu are listed on one application. The applicant must select which housing sites are being applied for by checking the appropriate box on the application.
Note: Hale Mahaolu Ewalu Senior Housing is not listed on the general application. Visit the Ewalu page for more information.
Q. Can I apply for more than one housing site on the same application?
A. Yes. You can use the same application form to apply for housing at one or more of our sites. Please make sure that you meet the eligibility requirements for the sites you are applying for. Note: Komohana Hale is only available for individuals who are working in West Maui or are retired from employment in West Maui.
Q. What address should I mail or drop off my application to?
A. Hale Mahaolu, 200 Hina Avenue, Kahului, HI, 96732 or at any of the other listed sites.
Q. Who should I call if I have questions about an application I’ve already submitted?
A. For inquiries related to your application for a specific site, please contact that housing office directly.
Q. Will I lose my place on the other wait list(s) I’m currently on if I agree to rent at another Hale Mahaolu site?
A. No. Each site has a separate wait list which is maintained by the housing office. Your name will remain on the list for each site you applied for until you decline. After you decline a second time, your name will be completely removed from that sites wait list.
Q. What should I do if the contact information I provided on my application changes?
A. Please contact the housing office for each site(s) you applied for so that they can update the information on your application. You may also contact our main office at (808) 872-4110.
After receiving the application, each reviewing site will notify you with its preliminary determination of eligibility. If the application is accepted, your name will be placed on a waitlist on a first-come-first served basis for upcoming vacancies. Prior to placement, you will be notified in writing and some additional information and forms (verification of current income, assets, etc.) will be required. A physical face-to-face interview must also be conducted at the site prior to the offer of a unit.
